In 2008 it happened. Saddam Hussein admitted in a US courtroom to developing large-scale biological weaponry that
could be used against the USA. After the re-emergence of Al'Qaeda and their claims to have those contageons in their
posession, the United Nations passed with a narrow majority an 'Aggressive Defence' motion. All of the suspected
Al'Qaeda headquarters were bombed and a third world war ensued. It ended promptly in September 2008 when America
recieved intelligence describing the exact location of the underground facility that Al'Qaeda were storing the bio-
weapons.
2 nuclear warheads were remotely launched and caused a wasteland of the surrounding 20 square miles. Tens of
thousands of lives were lost.
After America subdued the Al'Qaeda threat in September 2008, a new age began. International trade boomed and many
civil wars and insurgent groups quietened down due to America's obvious military superiority. It was the beginning
of international peace, with America as the significant dominant power.
Some scientists theorise that it was the biological agents exposed to the extreme fallout radioactivity that mutated
the virus into a cyto-agent, and the improved trade that spread it undetected.
Nobody knows what caused it, but whatever the case it's here to stay.
Any suggestions? Comments? RSVPs? (I can wish :P)

Hmmm....not sure I like it. The politics are a bit dodgy, and it's not like you need an increase in trade to go from where we are now to viruses spreading quickly. It just seems more complicated than it needs to be.
The virus itself is a good idea, though-keep that.
